RSV slowing down, Influenza almost gone

Viral isolate reporting this week will be a bit delayed due to the holiday, but I wanted to let you know that we have had a few adenoviruses and paraflu (both type 1 and type 3) isolated from 2 of our sites. Rotavirus continues to circulate, although at slightly lower numbers than previous weeks, about 20% of samples being tested were positive. Check out the CDC's link to influenza and you can view the nationwide numbers.

Influenza in decline, RSV and Rotavirus persist

Consistent with the rest of the country, positive tests for influenza are on the decline. Last week we had only 6 positive tests from all of our reporting sites. RSV is still strong and one site reported 36% positive cases (well above endemic levels). Rotavirus continues to circulate, we had a total of 55 cases from our reporting hospitals. From one site over 45% of the tests done were positive. Wash your hands and cough into your sleeve!
