Weblink to the Los Angeles DHS

An updated graphic on our regional data from our 7 reporting hospitals will be posted later this week, most recent numbers show our RSV running at 15-20% positive and still positive testing for Influenza A and B as well as parainfluenza and adenovirus.

RSV Activity Graph

In response to multiple requests to include the "percent positives" for RSV, a new graph has been added to this blog site. The percentage is calculated from the 4 centers that provide me with that information. These are also the 4 most active centers, so the percentages can most likely be generalized to the Southern California Region as a whole. As we continue through RSV season, I am hopeful that this additional data will be helpful for tracking and clinical decision making.

RSV still going strong, Influenza steady

We are seeing a persistence of RSV and most hospitals are reporting anywhere from 15-35% positivity. Influenza is still in the community, but for the Los Angeles area and the entire state of California, it remains at "regional" levels. Our blog, as seen in the rest of the state, confirms that our levels of influenza B are significant and at some institutions are as high as 30% of the total influenza isolated.
You can access information about influenza (and RSV) on both the CDC's website: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/fluactivity.htm
as well as the LA County website: http://www.lapublichealth.org/acd/docs/Flu/Week08issue10.pdf
