Respiratory Viral Update for Southern CA

Due to the short week and the slow start of the season, I will not be updating the viral isolates graph until next week. However, we have had the beginnings of RSV activity in the greater Southern California area, although the postives are only running around 4-5% of specimens tested, signifying below endemic levels.
We continue to have sporadic parainfluenza (primarily type 1, but some type 2) and the occasional adenovirus. Rotavirus has not hit yet either, suggesting similar patterns to previous years (peak in February and March). We also have not had significant influenza A and B isolated, so stay tuned.
